Snow Day #2

We hung on to the snow another day.  After church, Chloe and I were able to work on a snowman...or snow person?  The snow was mainly of the powder-type and not very sticky, so we had trouble making a snow man of grander size.  So we opted for a Chloe-size snowgirl.  It ended up perfect as you can see in the picture.  Chloe then tried to make a snowdog for her snowgirl, but had some trouble.

Yesterday, we had lots of fun sledding, but after pushing the kids down the hill so many times, I can barely move!  It's time to run to Walgreens for some Advil and IcyHot!

Finally, while we have this beautiful snow, let all of us who have placed our faith in Christ remember that God has forgiven us of our sins and washed us white as snow...Thank you, Jesus!

Webkinz & Ceiling Fans

This afternoon after the sledding extravaganza...Camille noticed it was too quiet in the boys room...plus the door was closed.  Upon checking the door, she found it to be locked...which is a no-no at our house, and made her level of suspicion even higher.  After she got the kids to open the door, she got to see an interesting site.  Standing in the middle of the room was our seven year old

CRAZY LOVE by Francis Chan

We were introduced to the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan just recently.  Camille and I read it together.  I finished it last weekend while spending the weekend at the cabin at our family's wooded farm that's just east of Blodgett.  I cannot speak too highly of this book!  It has truly been LIFE CHANGING for me!  I recommend you get it tomorrow and start reading slowly with an open and honest heart.  Truth be known, most of us don't love God like we should.  We serve out of obligation,
and He truly isn't the most important thing in our life.  For me, I started by asking for forgiveness for this sad fact.  And I have repeatedly prayed for God to help me to want Him...to desire Him...and to fall madly in love with Him.  I am nothing without Him...and with Him...I have to strive to make myself nothing, so that all glory can be His.  The clip above is just an introduction for the book.  In addition to the book itself, the website has some great chapter videos.  You can reach the Crazy Love website at the following link:

THIS IS WAR by Paul Washer

We were introduced to Paul Washer in late 2009.  He's quite a fireball!  When I first saw this clip, I was ready to grab my sword and shield and paint my face blue like Mel Gibson in Braveheart.  It's just another great example of how we become so complacent in America, and forget why we are here.  Let's not forget guys!  We are here with a purpose.  Let's be bold, and not waste our time on earth.

Family Discipleship by Voddie Baucham

Family Discipleship has become such a passion of ours this past year! We are far from perfect at it, but have started to grasp the idea that God has given us (especially us fathers) the responsiblity to disciple our children. I focus on verses like Ephesians 6:4 where Paul states, "Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord" (ESV) and Deuteronomy 6:5-7 where Moses told the Israelites, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be upon your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.(ESV)".

It's hard to read verses like these and not get convicted about discipling your children. Unfortunately, in the church today in America, too many men do not accept this incredible blessing and responsibility. We rely on others to pass this on to our children, and then we walk in disbelief when our teenagers leave the faith.  It can't be something we simply do for a few hours on Sunday.  Life as a follower of Christ must be characterized by our love for each other and our love for God and His word.  We must live this out at home and pass it on to our children.  It is our hope that God will use us and our ministry to inspire parents to start embracing home discipleship.  For many it is intimidating, and they feel they aren't qualified, but as Voddie said above, just start simple, but most important...Start!

We got snow!  Lots of snow!  And today we spent the morning on a nearby hill with our sleds.  While we do get to experience all four seasons here in good ole southeast Missouri... days like this, with several inches of snow to

Welcome!

Welcome to the new blog for the Lancaster Family.  Some of you may have followed our 2009 adventures through our blog at FamilyBibleChurchofSemo.blogspot.com.  If so, you can now read all about our journeys here.  If you are new to our musings - we're glad you stopped by.

January has brought lots of "new" for our family.  Some answers, some questions, and always lots of interesting tidbits.   We continue to work on our book - Family Worship Guide: A Fun Year of Family Devotionals - and hope to that ready by Summer. (Be on the lookout - we may ask you to be one of our Test Families!!)

We also found "Lori".  Lori is a little girl living in China who  is deaf or hearing impaired to be PC.   We received an email saying she was going to be available for adoption and
we just felt like maybe, just maybe,  we could be the family for her.
